What to Know About Bee Keeping.
When you are able to make your own honey ,it’s worth the effort when it all pays off. Bee keeping is a hobby for some and a serious business for others. Honey is produced by the worker bees in a colony . Worker bees begin by making combs as areas where they will bring up the young ones and also as honey storage units. The worker bees go around flowers collecting nectar from one flower to another and this makes them pollinate the flowers in the process. The nectar in different flowers will have different substances in them that makes them very beneficial to the human health who use honey. Bees produce enzymes from their bodies that makes them turn the sucrose into glucose and fructose that in turn makes the honey.
There is another enzyme , glucose oxidase that turns a small amount of glucose into gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The gluconic acid makes the honey resistant to fungi , mold and any other type of bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide also has a role to play in the honey making process, it gives it some short term protection against microorganisms as the honey gets ripe. The taste and the color of the honey you will harvest is dependent from which flowers the nectar will be collected from. There is nothing wrong with being hooked on a certain color of honey but the fact is that color of honey does not in any way affect the quality of the honey.
Bee keeping has proven to be very lucrative for those who approach it in the right way. Bee keeping business does not mean that you will cash in on honey production alone there are a lot of products that the bees leave around that will make you serious money. You can sell pollination services to farmers stress free but with good marketing, all you have to do is present your hives and let the bees do the rest. The honey combs and wax still have a lot of applications in different products and this means there is a gap for you to fill with your product.
Most bee keepers who work on it as a full time business will agree that it takes time to build the business up but when it gets at the desired spot it will definitely pay off. Bee keeping is a business that is less capital intensive, you will not have to purchase large tracts of land, all you need to do is erect your hives in strategic location. Bee keeping as a hobby and as a business requires less physical effort compared to other ventures. There are different types of bee keepers depending on how they take the venture. In bee keeping you are either a commercial bee keeper ,a sideliner or just taking it as a hobby which ever it is love and enjoy every moment.
